Africa Compute Fund · Public Grid
How to read the Grid
Infrastructure development is not the same as deliverable compute. The Grid tracks project evidence and development pathways; its capacity labels do not imply that every displayed megawatt is installed, contracted or available for customer use.
Development stage terminology
- Diligence
- Technical, commercial or institutional arrangements are being assessed. Capacity is not necessarily financed, contracted or deployed.
- Qualification
- Workload, location or partner information is being validated. Qualification does not establish an operational deployment.
- Preparation
- Early deployment pathways or markets are being researched and organized.
- Horizon
- Long-term objectives that should not be interpreted as committed capacity.
Capacity terms and what they prove
Operational: physically available capacity supported by direct operating evidence. Contracted: enforceable capacity allocation under stated conditions. Reserved: capacity set aside subject to disclosed conditions. Qualified: development opportunity supported by technical and commercial evidence. Planned: proposal, not current supply.
A project may have a large target capacity while remaining in diligence. Do not add target capacity to operational supply or treat a programme milestone as a signed customer reservation.
What to verify before procuring
Check the current hardware and GPU availability, location, provider, delivery dates, data-residency requirements, commercial terms and service commitments for the precise workload. Discuss a qualified requirement with ACF.
